考える力、伝える力を身につけよう!をモットーに、先週からスピーチ・プレゼン強化週間を始めました。キミー先生指導のもと、2週間を一コマと考えてスピーチの考案、制作、発表までを行います。最初は戸惑いがちな生徒もいますが、失敗、振り返り、修正を繰り返しながら、上達を目指していきます。初回のテーマは自己紹介。簡単なテーマだからこそクリエイティブでウィットに富んだスピーチが出来たら楽しいですよね。さあ、頑張ろう!
いずれは大人クラスでもスピーチ・プレゼン強化レッスンも取り入れたいと思っています。
Last week, we started our “Public Speaking Classes”! We decided to begin offering these classes this year because we knew that it was going to be more and more important for our students to be able to level up their communication skills— especially with the changes that the Japanese government is implementing with English education.
It was the first time some of our students have ever encountered “Speech-making”. There are many different ways to write speeches but in the west, the “Introduction-Body-Conclusion” method is quite common. Some Japanese students are not so familiar with this pattern as it is a little bit more different than the Japanese Ki-Sho-Ten-Ketsu structure. This week, we started off with Self-Introduction speeches. It was difficult for them to grasp the idea behind it at first and some were worried about what to write— they found it difficult to think of what they wanted to say about themselves. But, I think with more practice, they can slowly but surely build their confidence and be able to write amazing English speeches in the future.
I am looking forward to how our students will do with their speeches this week!
